Gareth Veal is Professor of Cancer Pharmacology at Newcastle University, where he heads the Newcastle Cancer Centre Pharmacology Group, a research team with vast experience in running clinical pharmacology studies in both adult and paediatric oncology. His team has an international reputation of publishing evidence based and practice changing studies to provide novel dosing regimens based on a sound pharmacological rationale. Professor Veal has a PhD in clinical pharmacology from the University of Liverpool and previously held a postdoctoral research position at the Division of Experimental Medicine and Haematology/Oncology, Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). He is currently responsible for coordination of a CRUK-funded national programme for pharmacology studies, and is a member of the European Network of Paediatric Research at the European Medicines Agency (Enpr-EMA), a group established to foster high-quality research on the safety and efficacy of medicines for use in children.He is author of well over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals, with manuscripts published in journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet Oncology and Nature Communications and editorial board member for multiple journals.
